Auckland has officially joined the global dining map. The first MICHELIN Guide New Zealand selection has recognised restaurants across Tāmaki Makaurau, including One MICHELIN Star restaurants, Bib Gourmand favourites and MICHELIN Selected restaurants.
For guests staying with Auckland Stays, this is excellent news. Many of Auckland's recognised restaurants are within easy walking distance of our central city apartments, especially if you are staying near Queen Street, Britomart, SkyCity, Karangahape Road, Albert Park or Spark Arena.
Whether you are visiting Auckland for a weekend, a concert, a business trip, a family holiday or a special celebration, you can now build a proper food itinerary around your stay.
Why stay central if you are coming to Auckland for food?
Auckland's MICHELIN-recognised restaurants are spread across the city, but the most convenient dining clusters are close to the city centre.
From an Auckland Stays apartment, you can walk to restaurants in Commercial Bay, Britomart, Federal Street, High Street, the Viaduct and Karangahape Road. You can also easily reach Waiheke Island by ferry for a vineyard lunch or destination dinner.
That means you do not need to plan your whole trip around taxis or rental cars. Stay in the CBD, walk to dinner, enjoy the waterfront, and return to your own apartment at the end of the night.
One MICHELIN Star restaurants in Auckland
Auckland's One MICHELIN Star restaurants are Ahi, Tala, Paris Butter, Mudbrick and The Estate at Tantalus.

Tala in Parnell is also reachable from the eastern side of the CBD, especially from apartments near Albert Park, the Quadrant and Spark Arena.
Paris Butter in Herne Bay is better suited to a short taxi or rideshare trip, while Mudbrick and The Estate at Tantalus are Waiheke Island destination restaurants.
Bib Gourmand restaurants close to Auckland Stays
The Bib Gourmand category is perfect for travellers who want excellent food without always choosing formal fine dining. Several of Auckland's Bib Gourmand restaurants are very convenient from Auckland Stays apartments.
